Hiring for this position will focus on high school students and recent high school graduates (ages 15-17).
Under close supervision to learn and perform a wide variety of office and field maintenance work; and to do related work as required.
Essential Functions
Learn and apply progressively higher skills and independent performance of a variety of trades and careers including parks and landscape maintenance public works maintenance recreation and technical fields office services library services and safety services through on-the-job instruction and training.
Minimum Qualifications
Employment Standards: Skill in translating knowledge learned to on-the-job performance of assigned tasks; interacting and communicating tactfully and effectively with a culturally diverse population; discerning potentially dangerous situations; making independent judgments and decisions based upon standard policy or procedures appropriate to the level of training and instruction received. Ability to learn comprehend and apply on-the-job instructions; follow directions; safely operate motor vehicle with appropriate DMV licenses; read write and communicate at an appropriate level; establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors fellow employees and the public; perform essential functions.
Education/Training: At least fifteen (15) years of age.
Licenses & Certificates: Valid work permit at time of appointment
