Job Details:
The Real Deal is looking to hire a data engineer to join our new product development team. You
develop new and innovative methods to surface the breadth of our content and play a major role in
ground breaking new initiatives.

You will be instrumental in bridging the breadth of information
surfaced by the research team with complexity of the user experience design and ensure a scalable data
platform. You should be comfortable working directly with editorial and research teams, have
experience working in a scrum Agile environment and be comfortable being part of the full software
lifecycle from requirements gathering to software development, testing and release.

Job Responsibilities:
● Designing high performance database architecture and queries to support the frontend experience
● Design and develop data pipelines and wrangling procedures using Python and/or SQL
● Oversee the design of data models and interfaces in close collaboration with the research and
engineering teams

● Re-design, maintain and evolve the overall data architecture and data transformation pipeline and
reengineer where applicable into a modern architecture
● Help drive the roadmap for leveraging cloud resources to manage our data infrastructure
● Provide collaboration, leadership and governance for shared Data Architecture standards and
guidelines that direct the selection, implementation and deployment of technology within the

● Reduce cost and complexity through identifying and optimizing data flows between systems.
● Work closely with the frontend development team to optimize the product experience
● Translate business needs and requirements into innovative technology solutions that balance cost,
capability, performance and time to market.
● Collaborate with members of product development, creative and editorial, marketing and sales teams

Job Requirements:
● 5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or similar role
● Minimum 1 years of experience with Apache Airflow/Python
● Outstanding knowledge of data modeling in relational and non-relational contexts.
● Advanced Python scripting skills
● Extensive hands-on experience in designing data models, data profiling, ELT & ETL processes, and BI

● Extensive hands-on expertise in relational databases MySQL/ Postgres and knowledge of NoSQL
databases is a plus
● Knowledge of elastic Cloud technologies like AWS Lambda, Fargate, and Kafka
● Domain expertise around data architecture, data governance, and system design integrations
● Experience in the real-estate industry is a big plus
● Experience with Javascript frameworks like React.js is a big plus
● Self-starter, with a strong sense of ownership
● Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on details
● Passionate about creating innovative products
This is a full-time position that could be based in one of our offices, or virtually for the right candidate.
