Position description
We’re looking for an engaging individual to join our growing team. This position requires a passion for content creation and strategic thinking. This role will require execution across media, including print, social media, digital, web and more. As a content specialist, you’ll have the opportunity to bring our brand voice to life, engage with our customers and drive business results through words.
As a Content Specialist, you’ll play a critical role within the Optum Care content marketing team, developing great ideas, producing engaging, relevant content and keeping a good balance between speed and quality. You’ll work with a team to ensure that unique, engaging and search-friendly content is created on behalf of clients. Besides writing great content, you’ll focus on writing content that is health-literate, and easy for consumers to read at a 6th grade reading level.
Success criteria
Creativity: You’ll be creating a wide range of materials, including ad copy, direct mail (letters, postcards, self-mailers), TV scripts, web copy and digital consumer health content. A strong desire to create and innovate content is necessary
Journalistic/research skills: You’ll research content topics and target keywords based on marketing preferences and business focus. Having a pulse on health care trends and a desire to produce the most timely and engaging work is critical
Writing skills:
Apply health literacy principles to copy writing. Ensure results meet compliance and legal requirements. Use market and customer data to ensure quality content that is compelling, on-brand and relevant to the target segment
Communication skills: Professional and timely communication is a necessary trait for this position. You will collaborate with our marketing partners to write content that meets their business objectives
Technical skills:
Specialist must be comfortable working in online software systems (content production systems) as well as email tools and basic desktop publishing applications such as Adobe Acrobat Pro and Microsoft Office. A strong background in project management tools is also encouraged
Other: As in most jobs, the ability to work under pressure, either in a team or autonomously, is an absolute must. Additionally, must be able to find uniqueness and express creativity in saturated content areas

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
4+ years of experience writing digital copy, print collateral and B2C marketing materials
2+ years of experience in B2C marketing in regulated industry
Preferred Qualifications:
Health care marketing/communication experience
Adobe Acrobat Pro experience
Writing based on health literacy principles
Exceptionally organized and detail-oriented
Collaborative problem solver

Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, or New York City Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $66,100 to $118,300. The salary range for Connecticut/Nevada/New York City residents is $72,800 to $129,900. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
