We are looking for an energetic and talented professional who will be responsible for the overall equity administration strategy, process and systems, and improving the end-to-end stakeholder experience. The candidate must have operational experience in understanding what it takes to manage equity programs globally – including periodic reporting and potential tax and compensation issues. You will help to deliver a best-in-class equity program to our employees and help our employees understand the value of their awards so that they can focus on what’s important – their work and impact to the company.

This position is based in our Santa Clara, CA headquarters, but we will consider remote for the right candidate.


Responsibilities
Manage all aspects of Couchbase’s global equity programs including Stock Options, Restricted Stock Awards (RSAs) and ESPP.

Data entry and manage daily and cyclical processes for grants, stock option exercises, RSU releases, terminations and leaves including all necessary reporting requirements to brokers, transfer agent (when applicable) and Couchbase’s Payroll teams.


Respond to employees’ inquiries and manage the Stock Admin email inbox.

Manage administration of Employee Stock Purchase Plan, when applicable, including open enrollments, tracking, withdrawals, changes, purchase processing and reporting.

Understand and have working knowledge and experience in application of accounting rules associated with stock-based compensation (ASC 718).


Collaborate and partner with HR, Total Rewards, Legal, Accounting, and Payroll team members to ensure accurate dataflow, support for audits and reporting needs.

Ensure the proper taxation is applied to all equity transactions.

Enhance the stock administration function, including improvements in process and implementing automated solutions for scalability.


Manage the relationship and work closely with outside service providers, such as our equity systems vendor, transfer agent, and broker service providers (when applicable).

Support employee understanding of equity awards programs and policies through conducting educational webinars, presentations and creating employee communication materials.

Prepare monthly reconciliations of option grants, exercises and cancellations and manage the share cap table.

Develop and maintain a global mobility tracking and tax compliance program.

Maintain SOX compliance and assist with quarterly testing/audits by internal and external teams.

Provide support for other ad hoc analyses and projects as assigned by management.

Assist with other compensation related projects including annual total rewards processes, special incentives plans and market-related activities.


Skills & Abilities
Strong working knowledge of stock compensation plans and services in a multinational public company.

Extensive skills and experience in working on and maintaining data integrity in Equity Edge On- Line (EEO).

Ability to lead, manage, track and follow-up on stock administration projects and provide strategic, tactical, technical and analytical support to senior members of the finance, legal and human resource teams.


Ability to manage multiple tasks under strict deadlines with meticulous attention to detail.

A collaborative team player, able to partner with internal and external contacts at all levels.

Ability to work independently and as a part of a team, shift focus, adapt to changing priorities, maintain patience in high pressure situations and take initiative where appropriate.

Strong customer service focus and flexibility.

Comfortable in a fast paced and casual working environment.

Manage highly confidential information with professionalism and unquestionable integrity.


Exceptional written communication and presentation skills and proven ability to effectively communicate complex stock plan matters to all employee levels through company-wide communications.

Strong analytical and organizational skills.

Excellent business judgment, strategic thinking, and ability to manage multiple matters.
Qualifications
8+ years of directly relevant experience demonstrating increasing levels of responsibility in global stock plan administration including in a public company environment.

Certified Equity Professional (CEP) designation or working towards the designation preferred.

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience with an emphasis in finance or accounting strongly preferred.

Familiarity with EEO, E*Trade and Workiva a plus


Experience with U.S. federal and state taxation relating to equity compensation and general knowledge of global taxation of equity compensation.

Exceptional analytical skills and strong Excel skills (Pivot Tables, vlookups, etc.)
Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, licenses and certifications, and specific work location. Additionally, information on benefits offered is below. The anticipated starting base pay range for this role is $145,000 – $175,000 per year.
