POSITION SUMMARY

This is a full-time faculty position in High School Partnerships at Chemeketa Community College. Responsibilities of this position include teaching developmental mathematics courses service on departmental and college-wide committees curriculum development student advising evaluation of instructional materials use of technology and participation in campus activities. Expertise and experience in developmental mathematics and high school programming are highly desired. This position supports instruction for Roberts at Chemeketa regional alternative education and youth GED options programming.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Instructional Program Responsibilities

  • Participates in curriculum development; recommends course outline revisions
  • Recommends textbooks and other instructional materials and equipment
  • Keeps up to date on technological changes and developments in subject area and in alternative education best practices
  • Participates in departmental and college meetings and committee work; represents the department at pertinent meetings as required
  • Promotes positive image of the college and high school programs
  • Develops and maintains contacts with K-12 community and professional organizations
  • Maintain accurate and timely student records including but not limited to: academic progress attendance 504 IEP and behavioral plans
  • Coordinates with instructional assistants to support student learning
  • Demonstrates the ability to communicate and work collaboratively with a team of staff faculty and key external partners

Instruction

  • Instructs mathematics classes utilizing knowledge of the discipline and teaching practice that facilitates student learning
  • Teaches classes as assigned following approved course outlines and contributes to common assessments through meaningful curriculum design
  • Facilitates student learning through a variety of pedagogical approaches supporting student progress and credit completion
  • Delivers instruction in a variety of modalities to meet program and student needs including face-to-face remote hybrid and/or online

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor Degree with Math Emphasis from an accredited institution

-AND-

A Valid Oregon Teaching License with a Mathematics endorsement or Masters in Education Teaching or education related field

-AND-

Three years of teaching experience in GED Secondary or Alternative Education settings

-AND-

Experience teaching in a variety of modalities including face-to-face remote hybrid and/or online

Core Competencies

  • Demonstrable experience providing culturally responsive instruction
  • Bicultural/multicultural skills sufficient to select appropriate behaviors values and attitudes within different cultures during interactions with others

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least one year of experience teaching math to diverse historically underrepresented student groups
  • Experience with behavioral management systems
  • Bilingual English/Spanish

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • This is a 100% 172-days faculty assignment of the F9 band and grade
  • All positions at Chemeketa are required to be available for work onsite as requested by the college.
  • Requires flexible work schedule to meet program needs which may include evenings and/or weekends
  • This position may require the use of your personal vehicle for transportation between campus locations
  • If requested you must supply official transcripts within 30-days of hire
  • Employees must maintain Oregon Washington or Idaho residency as a condition of employment.
  • Successful applicants for designated positions must successfully pass a background inquiry which may include criminal driving credit and full background checks. Only information relevant to the position will be considered. An individual with negative information on their background inquiry will not necessarily be denied employment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift carry push pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary requirements are met.

PUBLIC SERVICE LOAN FORGIVENESS
Chemeketa Community College is considered a qualifying public employer for the purposes of the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program. Through the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program full-time employees working at the College may qualify for forgiveness of the remaining balance on Direct Loans after 120 qualifying monthly payments under a qualifying repayment plan.
