Assistive Technology Outreach Specialist posess knowledge of all assistive technology eqipment/devices in order to provide education to people with disabilities as well as the community at large about assistive technology.
Specific skills include ordering set-up product demonstrations cleaning sanitation storage and maintenance of new and previously-owned assistive technology equipment/devices.
- Maintain accurate records of incoming and outgoing assistive technology equipment/devices through device loan and reassignment programs.
- Including the customer in the development of assistive technology goals
- Keeping goals focused on the acquisition of assistive technology
- Serving as a support coordinator by connecting the customer to needed resources
- Actively monitoring a customer’s goals
- Demonstrating a variety of assistive technology to empower a customer to make an informed decision
- Providing short-term device loans to assist in decision-making serving as a temporary replacement/accommodation or facilitating a professional development activity.
- Developing training events designed to increase a participant’s knowledge skill and competencies.
- Collaborating with the Information and Referral Specialist for customers needing funding assistance and
- Collaborating with the Assistive Technology Inventory Specialist when all funding assistance activities have been exhausted.

- Have all data entered in the online database by the fifth of each month.

- Lead for I Can Connect Services
- Collaborate with the Assistive Technology Director to establish train and maintain a consortium of community agencies
- Support
- Adhere to all operational standards as set by the Assistive Technology for Kansans.
- Advocate on behalf of the customer with other agencies when necessary.
- Conduct follow-up calls to customers when required.
- Conduct quality assurance surveys to clients as appropriate.
- Participate in the development of outreach plans to bring assistive technology services to underserved populations.
- Participate in the development and upkeep of an electronic resource library to include information on products/devices funding information professional development materials and the like.
- Develop collaborative relationships with other local regional state and national agencies/organizations to facilitate cross-disability responsive customer-centric delivery of assistive technology services.
- Adhere to the Independent Living Philosophy and ensure the dignity and rights of individuals is evident in all training and communications.
- Advocate for needed changes which will increase provision of assistive technology services and devices to persons with disabilities.
- Make home visits to customers as requested within the twenty-two county area.
- Document and compile service data; generate monthly quarterly and annual reports.
- Document all interactions with person served family and community.
- Adhere to procedures/policies regarding persons served finances.

- Respond to requests for information and assistance from other agencies or businesses.
- Make presentations to public groups about assistive technology and related services as requested.
- Perform outreach activities.
- Identify system policies procedures and practices which facilitate or impede access to appropriate assistive technology services.
- Recommend and request in-service training needs.
- Able to attend professional development events.
- Maintain training required for position.
- Abide by personnel policies as written.
- Complete and submit timesheets and leave request forms as required by procedure.
- Ensure correct completion of required transportation forms.
- Report vehicle maintenance needs to the appropriate person.
- When needed develop a purchase order to request supplies and submit to the Assistive Technology Director for approval.
- Be aware of agency mission and philosophy to the extent that casual conversation in the community can promote community awareness of OCCK.
- Be aware of customer needs and provide quality customer service.
- Inform proper OCCK personnel of OCCK owned equipment needs.
- Contact appropriate service person for emergency maintenance needs.
- Be aware of and follow all OCCK safety procedures and rules.
- Submit safety issues and potential hazards to appropriate person as needed.
- Perform all job duties in a safe manner.
- Assist with preparing grants and foundation requests.
- Participate in staff meetings and committee assignments as required.
- Responsible for adherence to all OCCK Inc. policies and procedures.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Must have experience working with people with varying abilities.
- Must have strong oral and written communication skills.
- Must have proven scheduling and prioritization skills.
- Must have electronic communication and data processing skills.
- Working knowledge and experience with database systems preferred.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must meet the eligibility requirements of the auto insurance company providing coverage for OCCK vehicles.
- Maintain a valid Kansas driver’s license or have access to transportation.
- Must have technical aptitude in order to learn and demonstrate new concepts and technology as they become available.
- Must have technical aptitude in order to learn local regional state and federal human services programs as they relate to persons with disabilities and assistive technology upon implementation or modification.
- Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Must have proven scheduling and prioritization skills.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Must have knowledge of Independent Living Philosophy.
- Must have electronic communication data processing and cloud database skills.
- Must have two years’ experience with MacOS iOS Android OS and Windows operating systems.
- Must meet the eligibility requirements of the auto insurance company providing coverage for OCCK vehicles or have access to transportation.
- EDUCATION AND TRAINING:
- An Associate’s Degree
- CERTIFICATIONS LICENSES REGISTRATIONS:One of the following three within five years of employment:Assistive Technology Professional (ATP) through RENSA.
- The RESNA certification validates qualifications knowledge specific requirements and eligibility in the field of assistive technology.
- Assistive Technology Certification from an accredited university.
- Participants of certification programs gain knowledge on providing assistive technology services to persons with various disabilities in a variety of settings.
- Certified Rehabilitation Technology Supplier (CRTS) through the National Registry of Rehabilitation Technology Suppliers (NRRTS).
- The NRRTS certification validates qualifications knowledge and specific requirements and eligibility in the field of seating and mobility.
- Maintain a valid Kansas driver’s license or have access to transportation.
