Work with the engineering teams to help solve business problem
Design, implement, test, deploy and maintain innovative software solutions to transform service performance, durability, cost, and security
Use software engineering best practices to ensure a high standard of quality for all of the team’s deliverables
Write high quality distributed system software
Decompose complex problems into simple, straight-forward solutions
Perform code reviews and mentor junior engineers
Influence the technical direction for the team

BA/BS in Computer Science, Engineering or related field or equivalent experience
6+ years of industry experience as a Software Engineer or a Software Developer
6+ years of programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java or Python
6+ years of experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and current systems
Solid computer science and development fundamentals, including object-oriented design, data structures, algorithm design, and complexity analysis
Knowledge of professional software engineering and best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build process, testing, and operations
Experience building large-scale software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers
Hands-on experience in many disparate technologies, typically ranging from front-end user interfaces through to back-end software systems and all points in between
Master’s in computer science, or equivalent profession experience
8+ years of industry experience as a Software Engineer or a Software Developer
Experience taking a leading role in building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers
Experience with distributed computing and enterprise-wide systems
Experience communicating with users, software development engineering teams, and management to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
Hands-on expertise in many disparate technologies, typically ranging from front-end user interfaces to back-end systems and all points in between

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $82,100 to $146,900. The salary range for Connecticut/Nevada residents is $90,500 to $161,600. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
