A role in the Controller’s Group calls on your skills for quality financial reporting and accurate financials and technical accounting while providing thoughtful and responsive support, expertise and guidance to business partners. Your role will be critical to ensuring the success of Target’s business initiatives and core retail operations.
As a Senior Accountant in Property Accounting, you will be an active partner in accounting for Target’s lease portfolio, with a focus on our dynamic store environment. You will evaluate lease documents using our SAP REFX system, prepare financial statement disclosures, and ensure timely and accurate month-end close activities – including preparation and review of SAP journal entries, execution of SOX internal controls, and development of key internal reporting.
You will collaborate with Financial Planning & Analysis and Capital Finance to contribute to the review of key financial statement line items. You will work closely with Properties business teams to support lease accounting, reporting, and analysis. You will work on special projects and ad-hoc analysis as needed. You will develop strong relationships in order to influence partners and provide decision support to teams across the company. You will drive innovation and use analytics to improve processes and maintain a strong internal control environment. Job duties may change at any time due to business needs.
About you:
B.A/B.S degree in Accounting (or equivalent)
3+ years of related experience
Knowledge of US GAAP (lease accounting preferred)
Experience with SAP preferred (including SAP-REFX)
Ability to work independently and maintain a high level of initiative
Excellent communication, problem solving, organization, and analytical skills
Strong business partner, able to collaborate with teams across the organization
Digital mindset (data analytics, technology, automation)
This position may be considered for a Remote or Hybrid work arrangement based on Target’s needs. A Hybrid work arrangement means the team members core role will be a blend of virtual and onsite at a Target location. A Remote work arrangement means the team member works full-time from home or an alternate location that’s not a Target location, does not have a desk at their primary HQ work location and may travel to HQ up to 4 times a year.
Work duties cannot be performed outside of the country of the primary work location, unless otherwise prescribed by Target. The salary range is :$65,600.00 USD – $118,100.00 USD.
