Weld County Department of Human Services Employment Services is recruiting for a Business Services Representative.

The Business Services Representative will establish working relationships with private and public employers to stimulate job growth and economic opportunities. Core services include providing labor market information referrals of potential employees business education and information regarding services provided by Employment Services. Develop and build partnerships with community economic development organizations and educational institutions to collaborate on employee development activities resulting in a viable workforce for Weld County.

Work activities will be performed four (4) days at the Fort Lupton location and one (1) day at the Greeley location.

$24.80 – $31.41 per hour plus benefits (see benefits tab on the job posting). The position will normally start at $24.80 per hour.

This range encompasses the nine pay steps available should you receive the position and demonstrate satisfactory performance over time.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skill and/or ability required. Utilizes Internet resources to research industry codes addresses and company information to develop a prospecting list of local employers to connect with Employment Services. Meets with private and public employers to explain how Employment Services could assist them with their employment needs. Provides and explains Labor Market Information and offers suggestions on wages and skill level to retain or expand their workforce. Discusses and explains Employment Services job seeker training opportunities and programs. Gathers pertinent workforce information creating customized reports for employers.

Markets services in-person via phone email or virtual platform. Assists with the creation of marketing brochures and flyers. Collaborates with appropriate personnel to post information regarding upcoming employment events to County social media platforms community calendars etc. Creates PowerPoint presentations to build awareness and understanding of the services and products provided by Employment Services.

Assists employers local non-profit organizations and educational institutions with their recruiting and hiring needs. Hiring events and job fairs are coordinated with employers to be held at Employment Services virtually at their place of location or any other approved site. Assists employers in their hiring process by screening potential applicants setting up interviews and providing candidate assessment opportunities.

Performs job matches by reviewing existing job openings listed through Connecting Colorado and evaluates registered job seekers’ skill level experience and appropriateness for the listed positions. Contacts potential candidates and informs them of existing job openings and related details such as duties and responsibilities compensation benefits schedules and working conditions. Works in tandem with other Employment Services units and Weld County divisions to develop Work-Based Learning opportunities such as Registered Apprenticeships On-the-Job Training and Work Experience placements.

Regularly attends Chamber and Sector Partnership meetings before and after-hour events to convey information effectively actively looking for ways to assist with industry needs. Communicates to crowds of all size through public speaking engagements (in-person and virtual) and email correspondence. Develops constructive and cooperative working relationships with chamber and sector partnership staff public partners and other government agencies maintaining the relationships over time.

Tracks and documents all activities in a data management system. Meets the Federally mandated performance standards set by the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment. Complies with policies and procedures adopted by the Weld County Workforce Development Board. Works with the staff in the South County office to garner basic knowledge to assist in the Center as needed.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalency.
  • Successful completion of an Associate’s Degree is preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education training and experience which provides the required skills knowledge and ability for the position may be considered.

Required Work Experience:

  • Three (3) years business or clerical experience in an office environment which includes a high level of customer service and experience working with the public.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience in sales or marketing.
  • Experience working in a human services environment.
  • Ability to keyboard at a minimum of 35 words per minute.

Additional Required Skills Abilities and Knowledge:

  • Must possess a valid Colorado Driver’s License and adequate Liability Insurance. Must provide own transportation and be willing to travel throughout Weld County.
  • Must pass Human Services Background Checks.
Other Necessary Requirements

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to enter data into several different computer programs. Ability to learn and apply new computer skills on a regular basis. Knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Windows Word Excel PowerPoint OneNote Teams and Outlook.

Ability to read and comprehend instructions correspondence and department policies and procedures. Ability to write correspondence.

Ability to effectively communicate in one-on-one small and large group situations to customers and other employees of the organization.

Ability to apply math concepts and calculations in the work environment.

Ability to apply common sense to problem solve in a work environment.

Ability to adapt to work independently and handle high stress situations prioritizing competing tasks or responsibilities in a fast paced high volume and ever-changing work environment.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee may be required to sit for extended periods of time and is occasionally required to stand and walk. Occasionally the employee may be required to lift and/or move heavy files or objects up to 25 pounds. The employee frequently is required to use their hands and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision distance vision peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus such as that used when using a computer or reading.
